In late November 2025, Daito Trust Construction Co., Ltd. (head office: Tokyo, Japan) will begin sales of carbon credits from renewable energy to companies in the supply chain by making use of the J-Credit Scheme, a system whereby the Japanese government certifies renewable energy generated from solar power as credits.
Since 2022, we had generated credits corresponding to in-house consumption of renewable energy from solar panels installed on the roofs of rental housing. Current plans call for applying these credits to electricity from temporary power supply facilities at construction sites to help achieve the RE100 targets. As the number of residences with solar panels installed will grow year by year, the volume of renewable energy credits generated is expected to exceed consumption of electricity from temporary power supply facilities at construction sites in 2027.
We aim to reduce our Scope 3 CO2 emissions by providing these renewable energy credits in excess of in-house consumption to our material suppliers. Under this structure, companies in our supply chain will be able to purchase renewable energy credits at about 80% of market price. They can also order the credits online.
We plan to install solar panels on 15,000 residences by 2030 to generate about 20,000 tons per year in credits. By selling 10,000 tons or more to companies in our supply chain, we will promote eco-friendly construction while strengthening mutual environmental awareness. We will continue to accelerate our initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality by enhancing collaboration with nationwide companies in the supply chain.
