Gaspal Corporation (head office: Tokyo, Japan), a Daito Group company, has decided to enter the business of aquaponics, a new form of circular agriculture that combines aquaculture and hydroponics.
In November 2025, Gaspal began construction on a company-owned farm with a site area of 4,600 m2 in Saitama Prefecture.
This company-owned farm will cultivate crops, such as leafy vegetables, edible flowers, and herbs, in its hydroponics area, and seafood, such as sturgeon, Lake Biwa dace (honmoroko), and tilapia, in the aquaculture area. Gaspal will begin sales of leafy vegetables harvested from the farm in April 2026 under the Fukusai Shoten brand.
Gaspal plans to apply the expertise gained from this project to engage in a business that matches owners of unused land with prospective farmers, for whom it will provide administrative support. It will also prepare for the launch of an agricultural consulting business to provide support services, including support for skills acquisition. The current target is annual sales of 50 million yen by FY2032, when it expects to launch full-scale sales of aquaculture products.

■About aquaponics
Aquaponics is a circular agricultural method that combines aquaculture and hydroponics, whereby fish waste broken down by microorganisms is used as nutrients to achieve efficient plant growth. Purified water is returned to the fish tanks, resulting in a sustainable production system that uses no agrochemicals or chemical fertilizers.
